100 Klosjes! +applique try-out

Ineens had ik weer zin om klosjes te maken en dan ook gelijk een heleboel. Dit zijn er 20, dus dan kom ik op een totaal van 100!

After some quiet weeks I suddenly felt like making 'klosjes' again. With the 20 'klosjes' I made this week, I reached the total number of 100.



Verder probeer ik enkele applique blokken te combineren. Deze blokken liggen al een tijd te wachten in de kast. Sommige zijn van een workshop of maakte ik om een nieuwe techniek uit te proberen. Tussen de blokken wil ik genaaide blokken plaatsen. Het is een beetje rommelig naar mijn idee. Het blijft lastig alles te combineren en ziet er misschien een beetje vreemd uit. Als ik er te lang naar kijk zie ik niet meer goed wat goed of het bij elkaar past.Sommige patronen heb ik zelf verzonnen, andere komen van voorbeelden van foto's van oude quilts.Dit zijn alvast 3 foto's...

And I'm trying to combine some applique blocks. Some of them were lying in the closet for a long time. In between the blocks I want to try out different kind of
pieced blocks. It has been difficult. They have been hanging on a bedsheet on the wall and I changed them allmost every day. I think I may have used too many different styles and colours, but the thing is when I am looking at things too long, I don't see things very clear anymore. Maybe these combinations are a bit awkward. Some idea's are my own and some are from photo's from old quilts.







Gelukkig vind ik het nog wel leuk om er aan te werken en hoop ik dat het snel af is zodat ik wat nieuws kan beginnen!

Anyway I like working on it and hope to finish it soon so I can start something new!

Hollyhocks (stokrozen) and 'Soccersalad" ('Voetbalsla')

In de tuin staan nu een heel stel stokrozen en ik heb ze nog nooit zo mooi en met zoveel tegelijk gehad. De kleuren hebben zich ook gemengd. Ik had ook lichtblauwe gezaaid maar die zijn er niet... vreemd. Erg blij ben ik met mijn gele roos. Ook de calendula's ( goudsbloemen) hebben zich dit jaar ook weer overal zelf uitgezaaid.
Ter ere van het WK voetbal had ik een schaal Nederlandse 'voetbalsla' gemaakt. En echt alle bloemen erin kan je eten. Alles is uit mijn tuin behalve de tomaten die zijn bij mij nog groen. Jammer genoeg zijn we geen wereldkampioen maar ik vind de tweede plaats een super prestatie!

In the garden are a whole lot of hollyhocks. I never had so many and so beautiful. The colors are mixed. The only one that is missing is a blue one. I'm very happy with my Yellow rose and there are many selfsown calendula's (marygolds).

Because of the soccergames of the World Chamionship in South Africa I made a 'soccersalad'. You can eat all the flowers and everything is coming from my garden except for the tomatoes. They are still green. It is a pitty we didn't become world champion but I think second overall is a very good result!

Holiday, fabrics, gardens...

Onze eerste stop: Brugge

Brugge was erg mooi om te zien. Heel Brugge staat op de Unesco erfgoed lijst en overal waar je kijkt zie je heel mooie oude gebouwen en zou je overal wel foto's van kunnen maken. De film : In Bruges laat ook veel van Brugge zien.Ik vind de film erg goed: anders dan anders en heel goed geacteerd.

Our first stop: Bruges

Bruges (Belgium) Is a very beautiful place to visit. Brugge is on the Unesco heritage list and so every where you look are beautiful pictures to make. I have chosen one to show you, but I could easily show 5o of these. If you would like to see a movie with a lot of Bruges in it you can watch: In Bruges. I liked the movie al lot. An unusual film and very good acting.

Dit is een applicatie die ik meenam op vakantie. Ik had het thuis allemaal uitgeknipt en opgestreken, zodat ik op vakantie het borduurwerk kon doen. Hoewel er veel tijd in gaat zitten vind ik het wel heel leuk om te doen. Ik hoop er een kussen van te maken. Het patroon is uit het boek van Michele Hill en het heet : William Morris in applique.

This appliquework was my little job for my holiday. It is a lot of work but I really like doing it.I did all the cutting and ironing at home so the embroiderie work could be done on holiday. The pattern is from Michele Hill and the book is called: William Morris in apllique.
